Santa Lucia day and the famous "lussekatter"
Today in Norway in the Santa Lucia day. We celebrate the kind and sweet Saint Lucy " who according to legend brought food and aid to Christians hiding in the catacombs using a candle-lit wreath to light her way and leave her hands free to carry as much food as possible" ( quoting Wikipedia ) We celebrate also the winter solstice and the light finally coming back ( slowly ) in our lives ! There is a traditional pastry we make at this occasion in Norway : Lussekatter ! This is a spiced yeast-leavened sweet bun that is flavoured with saffron ( to remind you of the light 😎) I love it !
